Our Stay in Joshua Tree

A couple months ago, Zac and I decided we needed to get away. We wanted to travel to a place we’ve both never been to while staying in California. This led us to the decision of Joshua Tree!

I’m the type of person that once I have an idea in my head, I run with it. So, I went straight to Airbnb.com and searched high and low for the cutest, but most affordable house. As soon as I saw it, I knew we HAD to stay there, and I booked it for a 3 night and 4-day stay.

The house was perfect. After our long 7 hour drive, we finally arrived at the most welcoming little house that we got to call ours for the time being. Each room fit the "desert escape" inspo we were going for.

I forgot to mention - this was only a couple weeks ago. With the world going through a global pandemic, things were definitely feeling different, and it was a nice time to escape before they ordered a Shelter in Place. Since it was during this time, a lot of things were closed, which meant we weren't able to stop by the shops and restaurants, but it all worked out.

We spent our first day/night playing more rounds of Yahtzee than you could think of, hot tubbing, sipping pinot noir, and stargazing. This is actually how most of the trip went since it was pretty cold, and the second day was rainy. As every night passed, we made sure to watch the stars and find as many constellations as we could. There is seriously nothing like it.

The sun decided to come out on the third day, and so we drove off to Joshua Tree National Park, which was only a 5-10 min drive from our house. I couldn’t believe the rocks, ALL of the Joshua Trees, the cacti (my favorite), and the animals roaming!

Here are some of the places in the park we went to:

+ Hidden Valley

+ Barker Dam

+ Cholla Cactus Garden - My literal favorite. I’m not sure what my obsession with cacti is or when it started, but this place was FILLED with them.

+ Skull Rock

+ Jumbo Rocks

+ Indian Cove - Great for stargazing!
