Bridal Shower 411
Calling all Maid of Honor’s (MOH’s), I repeat calling all MOH’s!
This year I got lucky enough to not only be the MOH for one bride, but TWO brides! Now keep in mind I have never done this before and so it’s definitely been a learning experience, which is exactly why I feel like I need to share.
Okay so like I said, I had no idea what I was doing and this was my first bridal shower of the two. I knew I had a bunch of things to plan but I didn’t know where to start. Thankfully, I like parties. Even better, I like planning parties. If you’re a MOH this year or have a feeling your time is coming soon - keep on reading please & thank you. Even if you’re not, keep reading to make me feel like I didn’t just write this for nothing.
Let’s just go through some quick helpful tips:
MAKE A BUDGET - do this prior to buying decor, food, rentals, etc. It all adds up QUICK.
Pick a theme & figure out your vision.
Find a venue.
Research your vendors like crazy and read reviews!
Ask for help, its OKAY. I don’t think the bridal shower would’ve been what it was without everyones help, especially from the Matron of Honor.
Make it fun, don’t stress.
Must haves:
+ food, duh. I opted to make a bunch of appetizers (salad cups, veggie platter, capers skewers, mixed berry salad and of course the most beautiful charcuterie board). I feel like it’s so much more fun picking at food and hanging out rather than a formal sit down meal. But hey, that’s just me.
+ obviously drinks. I put together a menu prior so we had a couple options. Since the shower was mid day and hot out, we opted for sparkling rosé, chardonnay, corona lights, and white claws. Also, water and la Croix as well.
+ photo spot. If your bride likes taking photos (who doesn’t now a days?) this is a must! Try to create some area where people will gather and take photos with the bride. OR just make the entire place pretty and you can take photos anywhere.
+ decor. The bride is very into neutrals and loves pampas. Easy peasy. I made sure to gather as much pampas as I could like Crate & Barrel and Anthropologie and I made my own center pieces with it. They made the tables look SO good and it truly was so easy to do. The signs were an added plus as well since my best friend is insanely talented and free-hands them all!
+ games! Some people hate em and some people love em. Talk to your bride and see what they think. My bride had specific games she liked and didn’t like so she made it pretty simple for me. I got all of the game templates from Etsy (see details below).
The details:
+ Signs all handmade by my best friend Shae @chalkandmore_
+ Handmade sugar cookies by @agoldenbarbiebakes
+ Charcuterie by @brie_grazing_boards
+ Rattan chair rental @bayarearattanrentals
+ Backdrop by the Matron of Honors dad (he’s amazing!)
+ Game templates by Unmeasured Events on Etsy
+ Bouquets made by myself all from Crate and Barrel and Anthropologie
+ Vases and candle holders from Amazon
+ Rental tables and chairs from A Grande Affair in San Ramon, CA
Wish me luck on the next bridal shower!
Now go get to work MOH’s.
